I hope you are enjoying your Basketball offseason, and your season went well and finished well.

I have one request of you when you have a moment.  We have been working to update the GCBOA website.  As part of this, we have added pieces and updated the membership piece.  My request is to ask you to take a moment to view the membership tab and check that I have you:

First- listed on the website as a member.

Second- That your information is correct, i.e., spelling, proper name, proper photo if you have one.  For those without a photo, we will work during our meetings this fall to take photos of members and add those to the sight.

Third-If I am missing any designations, please let me know.  We identify Hall of Fame members, 20 plus year BB officials, State Final 4 games, and State Championship game.  If I am missing one for you, please email me back and I will work to correct this.

Fourth-  If you are retired, please let me know and I will update.

Whelan Recipient of SEI Award

Whelan Recipient of SEI Award

The OHSAA Board of Directors approved the OHSAA’s Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity (SEI) committee’s unanimous recommendation to select Kelly Whelan as the recipient of the OHSAA’s 2011 Sportsmanship, Ethics, and Integrity Award. She will be presented the award at the annual scholar-athlete banquet June 17 in Columbus. Kelly is currently VP of the GCBOA association. Continue reading →

2010-11 NFHS Basketball Rules Changes

The National Federation of High Sports has announced the upcoming rules changes for the 2010 – 2011 High School Basketball season. Clarifications to unsporting acts, uniform apparel, and player injuries/safety are just a few of the changes that are coming for the 2010-11 season.

Proposed Rules Changes 2008-09

I hope everyone’s season ended on a good note for everyone. The GCBOA Board is preparing to meet next week to finalize plans for next year. If you have any ideas to make the Association better or ideas for a topic for our program they would be greatly appreciated. I have also attached the proposed rule changes that are being looked at by NFS. If you have time check out what Ohio is proposing. After the finish of a few tournament games this year I’m sure you will not be surprised. If you think of something that you think will benefit the Association please send me an email and I will put it before the GCBOA Board.
